3 Holiday Tips to relax facing cancer

3 Holiday Tips to relax facing cancer -

Sometimes life can get to be too much - you just need to go out for a while

I recently spent 10 days divided between Wisconsin and Colorado, and my living room gave me a much needed change of scenery and perspective.

During my holidays, I tried to think about why I felt so refreshed and relieved me. I came up with some tips for you - if you need a break from thinking about mesothelioma, stress or care you need to learn to laugh again

Spend time around children

I spent a few days in rural Wisconsin, with a friend who has several children and lives on a farm. I can not begin to explain how I felt relaxed during those precious days. . There is something to be around children that just lifts my spirits

The children created several "Jen Huts" just for me - small gatherings sticks that vaguely resembled a hut. On my last day, they packed a picnic to eat in one of the huts.

I spent these days in Wisconsin basically doing nothing, yet the time was more valuable than I had many months. We walked on the road to the farm, breathing the fresh air. We played a game of "Sorry!" As "Scrabble" and "Uno". We sat on the porch and sipped cold drinks.

We took a trip to the park, and I sat and watched the children play. Laughter filled my ears - and my heart. Later that day, as we laughed about something I do not even remember, one of the girls said, "You laugh a lot. You will live a long time. "

The wisdom of a 9 year old.

I pray that my days (and yours) are full of laughter, even if we do not live long on this earth.

We took a trip to the community pool, which provided some sunshine and giggles. We also went to an amusement park nearby where children were thrilled by. They actually convinced me to go on the bumper cars with them. This left my head spinning, but comfortable at the same time. That's usually the way things are when children are around.

My friend later told me that one of the girls teared just after leaving. again, he made me understand that I have to spend more time around children

If you have children or grandchildren -. or friends with kids - in your life, maybe it's time to take a break and spend some time with them. It can be so nice to just read a bedtime story or watch together and sit down to the park.

Relax by the water

My friends and I took a trip a few hours north of their farm to spend the night in the hut of his mother, who is on a beautiful lake. We spent hours watching the kids play in the sand, and took the pontoon boat for a breathtaking view of the water. The children were quick to point out the loons for me, and we were able to get within a few feet of two of them. (One of the girls later remarked that my laugh sounds like a loon!)

I was taking mental notes while I was on the water, hoping to keep my vision found on life. The best advice I can give you is this: Maybe it's time for a trip to a lake or the ocean, or even a stream. There is something about being on the water (or near it) that helps the progress of the soul and relax. I felt a million miles in my life stressed in Florida.

During my last day in Wisconsin, my aunt and I took a tube trip on the Crystal River. It was not as relaxing as expected, it was indeed a pleasure to spend more time in the water.

Spending time with the family

After my days in Wisconsin, I went to see my sister get her master's degree in Denver. I've never combined two holidays in one before, but I'm happy with the result. It was so nice to enjoy the summer weather in Denver (less moisture) and go out with my sister and my mother. We took naps almost every day and went to bed early, too.

If you have family nearby or even away, perhaps it is time to set aside some time to see. They can help you remember what's important in life - and remind you how much they love you

I can certainly say that I enjoyed my long stay, and I will always cherish the memories .. Maybe maybe you can still squeeze a vacation in your summer plans or fall. I bet you'll be glad you did.
