Asbestos Conference Keynotes Feature Asbestos Medical Expert, Advocate -

This weekend Perry Browder, myself and other lawyers and staff with the firm will participate in the 9 e annual International Asbestos awareness Conference in Washington, DC We are proud not only to be once again a platinum Sponsor of the event, but also to be the longest cumulative supporter of ADAO.

The ADAO Conference plays an important role in bringing disease patients related to asbestos and their caregivers together with advocates, medical experts and professional experts. Events like this are essential to provide updated information and raising awareness about the global health crisis caused by asbestos.

This year's speakers promise to be one of the best yet.

Captain Aubrey K. Miller, MD, MPH, will present a keynote luncheon speech entitled "Asbestos in the environment and workplace :. issues and public health concerns" Miller is currently the Senior medical advisor for the Office of the Director of the National Institute of sciences of environmental health and the National Institutes of health.

I heard Dr. Miller has in previous years on asbestos exposures non-professionals. He is very knowledgeable on the subject of environmental health issues, having published several articles, and his passion for understanding the impacts of asbestos for public health is well respected in the community ADAO and beyond.

He also has expertise in disaster response and emerging threats such as Hurricane Sandy and the response of the World Trade Center. In recent years, the dangers of asbestos exposure have received increased attention
during natural disasters. It is imperative that the public understands the danger present in older homes so they can take precautions against toxic exposures that can occur during disaster scenarios.

I'm looking forward to again Dr. Miller speaks on public health issues and concerns related to asbestos.

The keynote speaker for the unity of Remembrance Brunch is an event that inspires and offers encouragement; This year will be no different. Australian asbestos lawyer Karen Banton will share how she has continued the work of her late husband Bernie Banton who lost his fight for mesothelioma in 07. Like many of asbestos patients that I know Bernie is not going without a fight.

Since the early 00s until 07, Bernie has been widely recognized as the public face of the legal and political campaign fought in Australia. Bernie had asbestosis and pleural plaques before his diagnosis of mesothelioma and worked to achieve a binding agreement with James Hardie Industries for a long-term compensation fund to help people suffering from asbestos-related diseases were exposed to products containing asbestos society.

In 09, Karen, along with others, founded the Bernie Banton Foundation with the mission to provide support and information to people affected by diseases related to asbestos and promote awareness the dangerous exposure to asbestos. Karen will also be honored with 2013 ADAO Tribute of Inspiration Award.
