Today is the Wonder Woman Day in Rushville, Indiana. The mayor made the statement on Monday in honor of Rushville resident and Janelle Bedel mesothelioma patients. Part of today's turnover of Rushville Hardee benefit Janelle who plans to donate funds to the Organization outreach to asbestos diseases.

The statement is the climax of a wave of community support for Janelle and her family after announcing his decision to enter the hospice. Since then, thousands of people have changed their Facebook profile picture of Wonder Woman logo in honor Janelle and mesothelioma awareness.

Janelle was diagnosed with mesothelioma at the age of 31 in 07. His son was 4. Mesothelioma is a rare cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Unfortunately, the typical survival rate is 6 to 14 months. Janelle has undergone multiple procedures, surgeries and chemotherapy to prolong his life. Her local newspaper ran its story and the town rallied to support her.

After his diagnosis, Janelle bought a Wonder Woman shirt to his local Goodwill. She and her family adopted it as their own symbol of resilience and strength beyond just the average woman. Janelle has taken its fight against mesothelioma in the street and became a hero to the mesothelioma community in the process.

She organized several events to raise awareness of mesothelioma, including two Miles for Meso events that raised thousands of dollars for research. In addition, it also helped lobby on Capitol Hill for a national day Mesothelioma Awareness. With his effort and many others, the Congress of the United States has been officially recognized September 26 as a National Day mesothelioma awareness.

In the six years since his diagnosis, she not only beat the odds but inspired thousands to continue to advocate for a cure for mesothelioma and a ban on asbestos.

To honor the heroic struggle against mesothelioma Janelle, the firm changed his Facebook profile picture of Wonder Woman logo.
