Are you providing care for an elderly person? Do you find yourself frustrated by not understanding where to go for help? Many times when there is a health crisis with an older adult, adult children take critical decisions about what happens next. They find themselves unprepared and do not understand all the alternatives; who can help and where to go for impartial assistance.

I went through the same situation with my mother who had Alzheimer's disease. My brother and I tried to help my mother and had to answer to how to find alternatives to driving, home assistance when our mother could not take care of herself, then place into a center of life assisted. When my mother died, I felt there could have been a better way to handle this and it motivated me to go back to school to get a master's degree in gerontology. From there, I formed a geriatric care management company that has worked with many seniors who have dementia or mental illness. When I had an injury that prevented me to continue in this business, I decided to continue the education of caregivers and advocacy for the elderly. It was then Caring for Parents Together was born.

Caring for Parents Together is a talk show on IWatchRadio.com which airs every Wednesday at 10 am CST. I interview caregivers, professionals in the field of aging and organizations that serve the elderly. I chose this place because callers can ask questions on air. In addition, links to the show can be displayed later in Caring for parents Together website for viewing at any time, in this way the information is available when the person needs. I wanted to help caregivers to do a better job of providing care to their loved ones.

My website, Caring for Parents provides Ensemble readers a blog with articles address issues that I met when I was a professional geriatric care manager. I help readers understand the aging process; how to select the home care agencies; home health aides; what to look for in choosing residential care, and more. Readers can also opt in for the monthly newsletter. My book Plan for Care will be published in the first quarter 2012. I also offer a webinar Caregiver Bootcamp to give natural caregivers they trust doing all they can do. Our site is open to topics that readers may wish to have considered.
