"Hi guys, I am faith and am Health & Wellness Centre blogger with mesothelioma. Today we'll be looking at nutrition labels and talk how you as a patient mesothelioma can use to help fuel for optimal recovery.
Now, the first thing you'll see on a nutrient label standard is the calorie content of the food. Now your calories will tell you how much energy you get out of the product. the things with a number of higher calories will give you more energy, and things at the lower end of your range body will process a little faster. Now the amount of calories you need each day will depend on your body size, gender, activity level and your weight goals.
now if your doctor thinks you might need to gain some weight because you are losing too much chemotherapy, you will want to increase the amount of calories you take in a day. The best way to do this is to choose dense calorie foods like peanut butter or cream sauces that give you about 0-300 calories per serving. Now if you are trying to lose weight, you'll want to make sure your food fall on the lower end of the calorie spectrum.
As you move along down to the bottom of your list of ingredients, you'll come across a section that talks about total fat. This incorporates four different types of fats. You have your trans fats, saturated fats your, your monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat and your. You will want to try to reduce the amount of trans and saturated fats in your diet, but the trick is food companies are not the list of ingredients if less than half a gram per serving. To make sure you do not eat these without knowing it, you can take a quick look at your list of ingredients to make sure there are no partially hydrogenated oils.
Now your fat takes up about 25 percent of your daily diet. Depending on the number of calories you eat it could be between 50 and 65 grams of fat per day. You can scale back towards the lower end if you experience nausea or diarrhea chemotherapy or radiation because it is sometimes difficult for the body to break down the extra fats and may lead to additional digestive distress.
The next thing you will find on your list of nutrition is protein. Now it is especially important when you are being retrieved because your muscles need a lot of protein to repair itself properly. You may want to take about one gram of protein per pound of body weight while you recover from cancer. Some good sources are yogurt, lean meats, beans and nuts.
Now that you understand how these nutrients help your body recover, you are on your way to be able to eat properly through treatment. Of course, you should not make any of these changes before you talk to a dietitian or nutritionist. But if you implement them, and they work for you, come on over Asbestos.com and let us know. See you next time! "
