People come from all over to attend the Alton Miles for Meso race for the show Ryan Kiwala with David D support their loved ones. 
David Dioguardi and his family made the trip from Chicago to Alton for the race last year, where his lawyer Kiwala Ryan ran after him.

When David was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2011, he was told he had four months to live.

"We were shocked and devastated," wrote David's girls in their Share your story on the website of ADAO. "We started to plan how we would spend our last few months with him."

David doctors referred him to the University of Chicago Medicine Mesothelioma Program.

He was there, he learned about additional treatment options. David was a radical pleurectomy, a procedure that eliminated about 0 percent of tumors in the lining of his lung, and then went through chemotherapy.

Four years later, David is still fighting.

Inspired by the heroic struggle of their father against cancer, Dioguardi family started a charity called mesothelioma Heroes Foundation that works to raise awareness of asbestos and fund research to find a cure. family "I know a Superhero event," a family fun festival and softball tournament will be held August 22 in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood southwest of Chicago.

"It is particularly inspiring to see a client who takes his personal experience with mesothelioma and turns it into something so positive, as Dave did with mesothelioma Heroes," said Ryan Kiwala, Simmons Hanly Conroy lawyer who worked on mesothelioma trial of David.
