Can you tell us more about your support network?
All my life I have always had incredible support network. My parents, grandparents and three younger siblings have always been very involved in my life. I have been diagnosed since August 9, not only my family, but my hometown community all came together.
The funeral home I worked in Louisville has been so favorable. They allowed me to come to the end of days, I do not feel good, leaves earlier or divide my days. I work four in the morning, go home and take a nap and come back to work the evening visit. They were very helpful to help me organize my medical bills because my office manager is a cancer survivor three times. They allowed me to leave for an appointment with the doctor and make my time in other ways. I work with the most amazing, compassionate people I have ever met.
My family has been there every step of the way. My mother took two weeks off and spent every day at the hospital with me. My father was back because he was still at work and at home with my two younger brothers and sisters who are still in high school. My parents returned home to me, which is three hours north of Louisville, for the moment, while I get my health back on track. I had some special people who have paid my bills on my apartment Louisville so I do not have to worry about packing and moving when I left the hospital. I am very pleased with an amazing set of family and friends.
I had a family member start a "party" Thirty-one of which I will get 20 percent of the product. In addition, the Dairy Queen I worked at all in high school is to do a fundraising event in the near future, where 10 percent of what they do that night will go in my account. My best friend of 14, and her fiancé who owns a gym in Elwood, will sponsor a bowl-a-thon in our local bowling alley. And last weekend, my maternal grandmother set up a charity auction benefits of our church. Thanks to donations from the community, we were able to collect nearly $ 2,0. The day I got out of the hospital, one of my mother's friends organized a walk-a-thon, raised some money and donated to my account of the advantages of our local bank. In a few weeks, Optimist and Lions Club will host a dinner of chicken noodle with the product going toward my medical expenses.
I'm from a small town of about 10,000 people, and a very close knit this community. My family was very involved in the community and we're pretty well known in Elwood. The generosity of everyone I've met has been amazing, even strangers. I am very happy, and God has been amazing.
If your cancer was not caused by asbestos, found the cause of doctors?
at present, my doctors have not been able to give me an answer to this question.
My mesothelioma cases is mild compared to those of other patients I spoke with. Of course, everyone I spoke with had mesothelioma resulting from asbestos, and mine was not. Dr. Scoggins reminded me that both cases are similar.
If you have further questions, please send them to me! I am happy to share my story! I want to help raise awareness of such a delicate subject and share my story along the way.
