A school in Munhall, Pennsylvania closed Wednesday due to security concerns after asbestos was discovered on the roof. After parents complained at a meeting of the school board Tuesday night, the district decided to close the building.
Students were sent home with a note earlier that day informing parents that asbestos had been found on the roof during the renovation. The school district has said that work on the roof immediately stopped when asbestos, a carcinogen known to cause mesothelioma and lung cancer was found.
