Talcum Powder Users Blame Product for Ovarian Cancer

0
Sacramento, the CAWhen science produces results and conflicting experts contradict about the toxicity of a product, patients are often left worried that the products they used may have caused their cancer.
Sometimes when you look at retrospect - as with cigarettes or asbestos - dangers seem obvious.
But in other products such as talcum powder, the danger is less clear.
Juries may be more willing to address the issue that experts with cancer trial talcum powder returned mixed results.
Although several trials have returned millions of dollars to plaintiffs price, at least one trial found the defendant.

In this case, according GlobalTort (01.07.16), the jury found 9-3 in favor of Colgate-Palmolive Co and Imerys Talc America.
In this case, however, the prosecution did not involve ovarian cancer, rather it involved a mesothelioma claim.
Mesothelioma is associated with exposure to asbestos.

In the past, talcum powder contained asbestos fibers, but for decades was free asbestos.
The applicant argued that his mother talcum powder on it from the time she was born, and she herself used the product until she was a teenager.
She was then diagnosed with mesothelioma.
Colgate-Palmolive and Imerys Talc America argued that mesothelioma of the plaintiff was not caused by talc.

In the end, a jury agreed with the defendants.
Other talcum powder trials involve claims that the powder is linked to an increased risk of ovarian cancer.

An ovarian cancer prosecution resulted in the jury awarding $ 55 million to Gloria Ristesund.
The price included $ 50 million in punitive damages and $ 5 million in compensatory damages.
Meanwhile, a price of $ 75 million in February 2016 jury was presented to the family of Jacqueline Fox, who died of ovarian cancer at age 52.
Lawyers for the plaintiff argued in that case that Johnson & Johnson knew his talcum powder has been linked to a risk of ovarian cancer, but did not warn consumers about the risk.
Meanwhile, at the end of March, there were more than 1,000 claims filed against the talcum powder manufacturers, alleging patients were not informed adequately about the potential risk of ovarian cancer, according to Bloomberg (31 / 03/16).
People who speak for the companies involved in the talc industry say their products are safe and they will call massive rewards.

Meanwhile, however, more lawsuits continue to be filed against companies that provide and produce talcum powder, claiming the companies knew the risks, but did not take appropriate measures to protect consumers.
