However, when the body is being processed chemotherapy drugs (or other treatments against mesothelioma), there is a possibility for adverse interaction.
Although it is not a complete list, we describe some of the most common interactions that mesothelioma patients may face in the paragraphs below:
Vitamin E & cisplatin
Some studies ?? including a May 2013 issues of Science Signaling ?? suggest that the chemical structure of vitamin E may play a role in cancer cell death. However, patients may experience more frequent bruising and bleeding while taking vitamin E supplements in combination with the chemotherapy drug cisplatin popular mesothelioma.
Vitamin E and cisplatin to slow the process of natural blood clotting. A small cut could turn into a serious problem for patients taking both drugs. (Passiflora and guarana also have a similar anti-coagulant effect.)
Vitamin C + Spirulina & doxorubicin / vinblastine / methotrexate

However, the vitamin has the ability to decrease the resistance to many anticancer drugs. In fact, vitamin C has been shown to reduce the effectiveness of three specific drugs, often used in the treatment of mesothelioma :. Doxorubicin, vinblastine and methotrexate
Mangosteen + carboplatin / cisplatin
The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center warns that the antioxidant properties of mangosteen can interfere with chemotherapy drugs based platinum. Carboplatin and cisplatin ?? Mesothelioma two popular drugs ?? are the platinum variety. (Pine Bark, also taken for its antioxidant and immune stimulation system properties, can also interfere with the platinum-based drugs.)
Ginseng + Tramadol
Some traditional medicine systems use ginseng to treat cancer. Although laboratory studies have not fully identified the active properties, many patients still choose to add American (Panax) ginseng to their treatment regimens.
mesothelioma patients taking tramadol for moderate to severe pain caused by their tumors should avoid ginseng while on medication against the prescription pain. Panax ginseng is safe for short term use, but any use for more than three months may interfere with the way the liver absorbs Tramadol. It can also increase the side effects caused by drugs.
Massage & radiotherapy
Because no drugs are involved, it is difficult to imagine how massage therapy can cause negative interactions with radiation. However, patients who are currently (or recently completed) radiotherapy should wait several weeks to add massage therapy to their treatment regimen.
Radiation therapy often causes tenderness, pain and blisters on the skin of the treatment site. If a massage therapist would apply pressure to the place, the patient may suffer more pain and irritation.
Acai berries imaging and magnetic resonance
Technically, MRI is not a traditional therapy. However, there is an imaging test that many mesothelioma patients during recovery to measure their response to treatment. Patients scheduled for an upcoming MRI should temporarily cease their consumption of acai.
Acai supplements ?? that cancer patients may take for its antioxidant properties ?? may interfere with the results of specific MRI. Itself, it can be used as a contrast material for certain cancers. If it is in your system when you go for an MRI, it can look as if the cancer activity happens in the body parts that actually are not affected.
