I am happy to share, September 26 was officially declared "Mesothelioma Awareness Day" in the state of Missouri. Governor Jay Nixon signed the simultaneous Senate Resolution 4, which made the officer of the State through the awareness day. The resolution was proposed by Senator Gina Walsh, a retired member of the International Association of Insulators and Allied Workers Local 1.
"Hundreds of Missourians, many of which were exposed to the asbestos while working in the construction trades, have been diagnosed with this rare and deadly, "said Governor Nixon in a news article." as with other cancers, awareness about their symptoms, risks and treatments can help save lives. I thank Senator Walsh to give this resolution and for his tireless efforts for his brothers and sisters in the construction trades to fight against this deadly disease. "
In 2010, Congress declared Awareness Day Sept. 26th National mesothelioma. However, designating the day in individual states still helps raise awareness about the risks of asbestos exposure and mesothelioma again further.
the day brings together thousands of volunteers, survivors and advocates raising funds for research into mesothelioma. in addition, these activities receive dozens of cases of media coverage, encouraging the scope for awareness of mesothelioma.
