Help Make Sept. 26 National Mesothelioma Awareness Day -

Please help get House Resolution 771 committee and floor House for a vote by contacting your representative Congress.

House Resolution 771 is a proclamation which, once adopted, recognizes September 26 as a National Day mesothelioma awareness. He asked the federal government to support the goals and ideas of such a day.

You can help by contacting your congressman. The volunteers of the Meso Foundation campaign for the bill, but many representatives want to hear from their constituents that promote awareness of mesothelioma and research is important to them.

and nonprofits as Miles for Meso promoting efforts to find a cure. If Congress pass this resolution, it would help to raise awareness about this terrible disease. Then, in turn, could help generate more research funding to further fund research for a cure.

The only cause mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos fibers. About 3,000 Americans are diagnosed with this rare cancer each year. Most people with mesothelioma live only 8 to 16 months on average and cancer Current treatments only prolong life for a few months. The time to act is now.

The federal government has the opportunity to join many other cities, states and municipalities across the country who recognized September 26 as Mesothelioma Awareness Day. Please let your congressman know how this resolution is yours.

Thanks to the support of health professionals, charities, mesothelioma patients and their families and lawyers, eight states have already adopted a resolution recognizing the Mesothelioma Awareness Day. And now, after more than two years of work across the grass roots efforts, we are far from 26 September recognized as the Mesothelioma Awareness Day at the federal level.

Earlier this year, the US Senate passed a similar resolution. Now we need the House of the United States to adopt its own resolution that recognizes September 26 as Mesothelioma Awareness Day.

To read the bill, search for "House Res. 771" or "mesothelioma" on the website of the Library of Congress. If adopted, it will designate September 26 as National Day mesothelioma awareness.
