Asbestos clinic gets surprise donation from Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation -

A recognized national medical clinic in the small town of Libby, Montana, recently received a good reminder that this is not the only ones who think the work they do for patients with asbestos-related diseases is important.

Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation recently donated $ 10,000 to asbestos related diseases Centre.

the asbestos related diseases Centre is one of few medical facilities in the nation dedicated exclusively to the treatment of people with diseases such as mesothelioma, caused by exposure to asbestos. Most people expect to find CARD doctors provide treatment options in major cities like New York or in a leading university like the University of Pennsylvania. But in this case, the clinic went to the people. Literally.

The 10,000 people living in Libby are 30 percent more likely to develop a disease linked to asbestos, such as mesothelioma or lung cancer, because of a vermiculite mine operated from 1960s to the early 190s just outside of town. This form of vermiculite, a brilliant rock similar to mica, contained amphibole asbestos. The asbestos removal process has failed, creating a fine dust that covered not only the miners, but the entire city. I read stories about how it will envelop the city. The miners would come home covered in it, children play, and women would be clean because, at the time, no one really understood its dangers. Except the mining company.

W.R. Grace Co., owner of the mine, knowingly poisoned the whole city. Studies estimate that since 1960, 88 miners died from diseases related to asbestos and that 1 to 40 residents of Libby and the surrounding area have died or suffered from diseases related to asbestos. For this reason, the city was designated public health of national emergency by the Environmental Protection Agency, the first statement by the agency.

asbestos exposure, though it could have happened decades ago, is killing people now. No one understands that Libby, Montana and doctors CARD. Simmons Hanly Conroy is proud to know there is several million pledge to the Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation will help people who need it most, such as those treated CARD.

The Simmons Foundation mesothelioma does not send a check, as this news article in the newspaper of the city, the Western news reports. Speaker John Simmons Foundation handed in hand while he was on vacation.
