Dreith George III was victorious on stage last year at Alton Miles for Meso the race. He and his team, the Georgie Porgie Meso Patrol, had won the "Top Team Fundraising".

George shared his story, his fight against mesothelioma that day on the stage while his team of 65 members and hundreds other participants listened. He was born in Wood River, Ill., and grew up in Alton, Ill., in the 1950s and 60s as a member of a family of blue-collar. His father worked as a mechanic aviation, and his mother worked in a dry cleaning Alton.

His fight against cancer inspired by Alton Miles will remember this year for Meso race on September 26 which is also the National Mesothelioma Awareness Day.
