Asbestos and Site Closures: Better Safe Than Sorry -

There is no such thing as being too careful when it comes to asbestos. Today brings more news of asbestos in the air, this time at a construction site and business.

A construction site in Baltimore County closed when the surrounding neighbors have expressed concern that asbestos, a carcinogen known to lead to lung cancer and mesothelioma, was in the air. Apparently the full asbestos dust had blown on the site in homes and businesses nearby. Fortunately, the construction stopped. Engineers and neighbors are trying to determine the extent of exposure to asbestos.

Meanwhile the Dekalb County Times Journal in Alabama reports that asbestos has been found in the Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative building, forcing a temporary evacuation. The CEO says the company is considering replacing an HVAC unit 43, and asbestos was found in the ceiling tiles.

Another good reminder to us all that you can not be too careful.
